Epsom Salt is Affordable, Non-Toxic Alternative to Chemicals

Epsom salt can act as a natural pest deterrent, helping to keep bugs like slugs, ants, and even some rodents away from your home and garden. It’s safe, non-toxic, and can be a great eco-friendly alternative to chemical pesticides.

Recipe

Ingredients
  • Epsom salt
  • Water (optional)
  • A shaker or sprinkling container

Instructions
  • Dry Application (Direct Sprinkle):
    • Simply pour the Epsom salt into a shaker or container with small holes to create a sprinkling effect.
  • Liquid Solution (Optional for Spray):
    • Dissolve 1–2 tablespoons of Epsom salt in 1 gallon of water to create a spray solution.

How to Use
  1. Dry Application (Around Plants & Entryways):
    • Sprinkle Epsom salt directly around the perimeter of your home, garden beds, or plants to deter pests like slugs and ants. You can also place it near windows or doorways where pests may enter.
    • Reapply as needed, especially after rain, to maintain its effectiveness.
  2. Spray Solution (For Plants and Around the House):
    • If using the liquid solution, fill a spray bottle with the Epsom salt-water mixture.
    • Spray the solution on the leaves of plants to deter insects, or spray around entry points of your home to keep pests away.
    • Avoid spraying too much on delicate plants, as the high salt concentration could cause them stress.

Epsom salt works by irritating pests, causing them to stay away, while being safe for plants and pets. It can be a great way to naturally keep common pests at bay without harming the environment!
